HEAVEN TO EARTH
God gave us music to magnify His word,
It may signify saving grace to someone who never heard;
Music is to the soul as sun is to the earth,
And blessed are we who can absorb and value its infinite worth!
WHAT TIME IS IT?
Time is hard to define...
I find I don't have time for time
Why is it passing so rapidly?
It's not just the aging ones - you see.
But every age I ask says time is going too fast,
Just remember to focus on things that last,
There is too much activity, noise, media, and change,
For our brains to comprehend and stay in range.
Too much pain and illness that time passed on by,
Searching for healing, time may deny,
We don't understand, just now, why bad happens to good,
Why God doesn't answer us, as we think He should.
Our search for peace and comfort in the worst of bad,
Can come through God's truths and His music to make one glad,
As faith and hope stay constant, He works through a personal touch,
That only a kindred soul may offer; the relief means so much.
Only by centering on the truth that Jesus taught,
Will we be able to cope with what the world has wrought,
As God has said: pray to Him in a time when He may be found,
For the Lord is your strength in the time of trouble profound!
SEASONS BEAUTY
(April 20, 1995)
Every season that dawns is my favorite, in its right,
Even winter in its coldness and its world of white.
We need Winter's pureness to cleanse the land,
And whiten our dirt that becomes clean as sand,
To crispen our breathing and uplift our senses,
To weigh down the fronds of the ice covered branches.
But Spring arises resurrecting what we thought was dead,
As the fresh smells of growth waft fragrances to a head,
The evening "peepers" sound forth, in the music of all keys,
As soft waves of nostalgia stir my dormant memories.
Then Summer consumes the surrounding earth,
As greenness and life are rampant in its birth,
Fertile are the valleys and wild flowers dot the hills,
Nature produces its life in a miracle of thrills.
But now Autumn surpasses all seasons of the year,
Awesome in its display and breathless in any sphere,
Colors engulf me with speechlessness as I see,
The beauty that I've longed for is so simple and free.
So I'm thankful I hold nature more precious than gold,
As the Creator's power is most wonderful to behold!!
FALL SONGS OF SUNRISE
(2003)
Look around you - what do you see?
Changes in weather, of course, that's bound to be,
Notice the fall sounds coming of age,
We are blessed in daily happenings, now turn the page.
Yes, the Lord made the sunrise and new mercies I see,
Just waking in the morning is a blessing to me,
But as we go about our activities and struggles each day,
Let us notice each thing around us that makes us pray.
Thank you God for each mercy that comes our way,
And that we feel the closeness of Your presence each day,
Fill our songs with sunrise and show You are near,
And speak through us in song so all will know You are here!
THE GOOD SHEPHERD OF ALL
From the 23rd Psalm
(October 3, 2005)
As the Lord is my Shepherd, he'll keep me safe from fear,
Complete - even my desires will disappear,
I will envision a trickling stream and rest upon the grass,
My soul is refreshed, as the wafting breezes pass.
So if I go where He leads, as do His sheep, even the lame,
To walk uprightly with Him; I will glorify His name.
Even when sickness and strife of this world is here,
The Lord comforts, heals, and removes my fear,
Just as the sheep are cared for by the Shepherd's rod and hand,
So am I, through darkness and the evil of the land.
He looks to my hunger and answers my thirst too,
Leading to "springs of living water" with life anew,
The oil of His anointing, redeeming grace from above,
Lifts me to heights of overflowing love.
So I feel the goodness and mercy within me so free,
Because the Good Shepherd laid down His life for me!!
SO BLEST
(September 14, 2006)
We are so blest in awakening each day to greet,
The light of the sun, or clouds and rain, and feel the ground beneath our feet,
To smell the wafting scents and hear the sounds that drift across the air,
To view the ugliness turn to beauty, and suddenly become aware,
That God works through people to help and serve where there is need,
The freedom that He gives us must be put to work to plant the seed,
Of extending the hand and mind to spread our blessings in all ways,
To pass on that rich past we won, so that others may have their day,
So blest to be thankful for God's Son who lights our way,
That every day we live is that Heavenly journey - starting today!
AND IT WAS GOOD
(2007)
In the beginning God said, "Let there be Heaven and Earth"
Praise the Lord, creation took place as the VOID had its birth,
First day, God said, "Let there be light"
Praise the Lord, the darkness was divided into Day and Night.
Second day water and mist were running free
God made the Firmament - Heaven to be.
Third day brought forth land and sea, grass and trees,
Fruit and seed spread upon the earth the future to feed.
And it was good!
Praise the Lord as the fourth day was born,
God said, "Let there be Sun and Moon and stars to form"
Fifth day great sea creatures and birds filled the sea and sky,
According to their own kind, God said, "Be fruitful and multiply."
And it was good!
Sixth day God created every living creature of the earth, according to it kind,
And God saw that it was good by His design,
Then God created man in His own image, and then woman too,
Blessed them to have dominion over all things He had mad new.
Praise the Lord, God blessed the Seventh Day and rested and said,
"It was good!"
If only we had remained true to Him, as we should.
God only meant for us to be GOOD!
FULL OF THANKS
(2007)
How can I not be thankful, Lord, as I look around,
At the harvesting of Summer's yield, created from your ground,
Thankful for this cherished land that gives us privilege to be free,
Thankful to brave ones, through centuries of sacrifice, who handed down to me,
This land and government, under God's blessing, to keep its liberty,
It is not easy to sustain the freedom without speaking and acting out to be...
Fair, just and merciful to those who struggle to cope with life,
Thankful for just a glimpse of that freedom from strife,
So I must stand up for the truths that Jesus gave through His word,
And act with hope and faith that His voice may be heard,
Thank Him for this special time of our land's Thanksgiving,
That I may remember, pray, and serve Him with a new Thanks Living!
FEAR NOT
(November 20, 2009)
O Lord, I will fear not; for I know You know me by name,
That You have redeemed me and called me Your own, the same,
That when I am afflicted and in pain You will forgive my sins,
For I am weak.
Heal me for my bones are troubled and Your mercy I seek,
I will then rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and cherish each prayer,
For I know that my faith is true and Your healing touch is there.
